Twinsy: Are you identical or fraternal? Do twins “run” in your family? What other siblings do you have?
Drew & Jonathan: We are identical twins, though Drew was a surprise. After Jonathan was born the nurse said…I think there’s another one. Our mom said “oh sh**! There are a couple sets of twins in our family tree…on both sides.
Twinsy: How was it growing up as twins? Was there competition? Is there competition today?
Drew & Jonathan: Once you get passed the oddity of people staring…yes it was great growing up as twins. It’s like when you have a best friend who knows you so well you finish each other’s sentences…only times a hundred! Haha. There was definitely competition growing up because Drew always wanted to be as good looking as I was (Jonathan). Wait? We’re twins…that doesn’t work. Haha. Even today though…our TV series Property Brothers focuses on that brotherly competition. It’s always humorous and we never take ourselves too seriously.
Twinsy: Do you have similar likes and dislikes? Personality traits?
Drew and Jonathan: We are VERY similar, yet VERY different individuals. For the most part we have similar tastes when it comes to food, music, movies and girls ;) Without being able to put our finger on it…we just have very different personalities. Probably the most noticeable is that Jonathan is renowned illusionist. Drew has been pursuing his passion for Directing film as well. Two different avenues…but both in entertainment.
Twinsy: Do you plan on always living near each other/working together?
Drew and Jonathan: We actually lived in separate cities for about 6 years and only saw each other a couple times annually. This was difficult because we get along so well and inspire each other to achieve our goals, however we did chat several times a week. Now that we live in the same city it’s great because we see each other often and talk almost every day.
Twinsy: What’s it like working on the show? What’s it like working on the show together?
Drew and Jonathan: The Property Brothers crew is amazing. It’s like going to work to hang out with friends all day. Working together…hmm…well seeing as Drew only shoots about 1/3 the days on set that I do (Jonathan)…I’m not sure that would be classified as work on his part. Haha. The running gag is that Drew just shows up to take the credit…but spends his days at the spa and on the golf course! I guess Drew’s just more efficient with his time.
Twinsy: How did you guys become the property brothers?
Drew and Jonathan: We’ve been acting & hosting since we were kids and have been investing in Real Estate most of our adult life (Almost 15 years). Drew was brought in by the Production company about a year earlier for another show that never panned out. They heard he had a twin brother and worked it into a pitch they had for a new show. Originally they were looking for a male/female host…which worked perfectly as Jonathan has real lady hair! Haha. In 2009 we shot a pitch for the W Network; they liked it and paid for the pilot, which we shot in the winter of 2009. That went over extremely well and the rest is history.
Twinsy: We know you both do acting and illusions as well. Are there any funny stories of you going out for the same role or switching places on set?
Drew and Jonathan: Jonathan is the only magician in this duo and contrary to what everyone thinks…NO he hasn’t used Drew in any of his illusions. On the acting side of things, we haven’t swapped out on any gigs… (However, on dates, that’s a whole different story. Haha) The easiest thing Drew finds is to send Jonathan the wrong date for the audition…competition solved ;)
Twinsy: Any advice for other twins?
Drew and Jonathan: Use the power of the ‘twin’ to get everything you want! We’re slowly taking over the world! Haha. Honestly, take a moment every now and then to think how cool it is that you ARE a twin. A lot of times we forget…or just don’t think about it. Its special and totally unique…well, except for the whole two of you part. ;) Remember, you have a friend for life, closer than anyone else you’ll ever meet…that should really mean something. And hopefully all you duos out there can motivate each other as much as we do to achieve your goals. We’ll leave you with a quote that we live by. ‘If you never give up, you can never fail.’

I came home from work the other day, only to find my husband watching your program. (he is a contractor) I am so mad at myself for not seeing it sooner. I try to watch a lot of programs on HGTV, when I have the time. How in this world I missed YOUR show is beyond me. Of course I had to set my DVR to record your shows. I have to say, I LOVE it. The fact that you all are twins is a bonus for me, since I am an Identical twin as well. I, like Drew, was the surprise for my mother as well. You both are very attractive and I love the difference in your personalities. I can see your show going on for many years to come. Keep up the great work, and I will be watching =)

The Group is fantastic, and the content is killer. In addition to the Message Board, which is where Members communicate, ask questions of me and fellow Members and receive tons of positive, professional support from like-minded business owners (and me), Members also receive

I love your show and especially the way you present them with their dream home first then show a home with potential. I purchased my home 12 yes ago seeing the potential it had and did most of the work myself. I was hoping I could get your advice on my bathroom and kitchen. I did small work on each room but these two rooms are not my dream. Needing your expertise and share of vision to make them my dream rooms.
Not sure if this is the only way to contact you, but if I has another way, via email I could send you before and after pics.
I'm married now and our home decor is of the roman feel. Pillars, statues, fountains, mixed with wild animal accent.
Thank you
Rhonda
